The Phelps Area Community Foundation was established to serve as a catalyst for local philanthropy and community development. As a 501(c)(3) public charity, we provide a unique vehicle for residents and organizations to easily set up and manage specific funds for local projects, all under the umbrella of our tax-exempt status.

Our journey began in 2024, sparked by a vision to create a lasting impact on the Phelps community. Through a series of meetings and discussions, a group of Phelps residents—united by a common passion for our town—came together to form our founding board. They all agreed that a community foundation would be a substantial asset, offering a flexible, efficient way to channel charitable giving toward local initiatives. By partnering with the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin, we expanded our capabilities to manage both long-term endowments and short-term fundraising campaigns.

This partnership streamlines the process for establishing dedicated funds for specific local projects. Whether it’s building a new playground, supporting education programs, or preserving historical sites, community members can quickly create a fund that benefits from our 501(c)(3) status—unlocking tax advantages that make it easier to support causes close to home.

Driven by our founders’ passion, we are striving to become a trusted steward of community resources, facilitating projects to enhance the quality of life in Phelps.
